Ok so I know that when you get a ticket in another state it gets reported to the DMV in your state and they assign it points that goes on your record. However if I am charged for driving 100mph in a 65mph and that is not considered reckless driving in Texas but it IS considered reckless driving in California am I going to get a criminal record/suspended license in California or do I only have to worry about the points and the normal insurance rate increase that speeding tickets bring?
I wasn't going as fast as he said unfortantely I had never gotten a ticket before and didn't know how to react, let alone that I had a right to ask for proof of my speed. I figured I'd just pay it and it would be fine. Now I am realizing the implications for my driving record and insurance. I am mad because it was in the middle of nowhere and I am having 0 luck finding a lawyer that even practices there. So I can't fight this in court and I live 1,000 miles away..!

Reckless or speeding - it doesn't make a whole lot of difference. You got flagged in another state. You need to call the court that is handling your case and get this resolved before you do anything else. Explain your situation and ask them what you need to do to clear your record. You're looking at a fine, at least, plus maybe proof of attendance at a defensive driving course. All of this will depend on your record.
If you don't address this issue, your license may be suspended and a warrant issued for your arrest. They're strict in TX. And if you get pulled over anywhere in the country, you can be arrested and your vehicle may be impounded, plus you cannot renew your driver's license and vehicle registration and you cannot get a license or vehicle registration if you move to another state.

Your points are going to skyrocket same as your insurance. You can't even take traffic school for that here. You're screwed, but c'mon, the laws are there for a reason and that was pretty dumb. |

well, unless you could prove you weren't going as fast as he said you were, it would have been your word against his and he would have won that fight.
yes, it will go on your record as reckless driving even in TX. it goes on as what the charge/ticket is, not what the locals would have/might have called it. you're lucky, in AZ ANY speed over 85 is considered reckless. |
