Speeding tickets on the freeway...?

On SoCal freeways, if you speed by an LAPD car on the freeway (or any other police agency besides the CHP), can they give you a speeding ticket? Or is it only the CHP that can issue tickets on the freeway?

The CHP, or any department within jurisdiction, can issue you a ticket on the particular freeway. Remember that the CHP can stop you anywhere in the state of California.
If you pass the patrol car going above the speed limit, expect to be stopped and warned/cited.

If you are breaking the law, they can ticket you. Don't break the law and you don't have to worry about it. |

Lets say you are in Anaheim and you pass an Anaheim Police car (above the speed limit) on the freeway. He can write you a ticket. They usually DON'T write tickets on the freeway, but they CAN.
Likewise, the CHP can and WILL write you up on state highways, such as Beach Blvd., even though they MOSTLY patrol and cite people on the freeways. |

If you are not smart enough not to pass the police on the freeway you deserve a ticket, that's all I have to say about that. |

As long as you are in their jurisdiction they can write you a ticket. Even if you aren't in their jurisdiction they can pull you over and make you wait until a proper officer arrives. |

if u are that brain dead that u are gonna blow by a cop, expect a 'love letter' followed by a steep fine once u get in court. chp 'owns' all roads in the state. typically, the fuzz stay within their own boundaries, but the sheriff owns the roads in the county with the chp. chp doesnt have to be on just freeways to tag u for speeding. if the sign says 45 u do 45....or u can get a ticket. plain and simple. slow down, or soon u will be walking. |
