ensure the area is well ventilated
ensure the leads cannot touch each other
ensure the charger is in good working order and has its own trip circuit
if the battery is not sealed ensure the fluid level and acid concentration is correct, open the filler tops.

1 - Make sure they're inserted in the charger the right way (observe correct polarity)
2 - Only charge for the recommended time for the type of battery
3 - Don't charge at a higher current (amps) than recommended.
4 - Store safely so they cannot short circuit !

UCANTCME

1. Never attempt to charge a damaged battery or a frozen battery.

2. Do not use the charger in a closed area or poorly-ventilated area.

3 Never smoke, use an open flame, or create sparks near a battery or charger during charging operation as this may cause an explosion / explosive gas.

4. Don't add new electrolyte (acid).

5. Don't add tap water as it may contain minerals that will contaminate the electrolyte.

6. Don't let a battery get hot to the touch and boil violently when charging.

7. ALWAYS wear complete eye protection (THAT PROTECTS EYES FROM ALL ANGLES).
