T Intersection with Lights Road Rules. QLD, Australia?

Hi, not sure if I'm in the right section, but I am just about to move into a new house which is located directly at the top of a T intersection. The intersection has traffic lights, so I know how to enter my driveway, but how to I exit it?
There are no traffic lights from my driveway, so when would it be safe and legal to exit my driveway?

My driveway goes right into the main road, directly into the middle of the intersection.
So, if the through traffic has a red light and those entering the intersection from the bottom of the T, am I able to go if it's safe or wait until the through traffic green? But then, can I go through the intersection to go in any direction (such as down the T), or should I just stick to one side of the road and then do a u-turn further up the road?
It all sounds rather dangerous, so which do you think would be safest?

Obviously there are no lights in your driveway so it's legal to enter the highway whenever you can unless a car is coming. Be careful though. that sounds like a dangerous place to live. |

Since there are no traffic lights from your driveway, you can exit the driveway when there are no cars coming your way or when it is safe. Through traffic has the right of way so other cars don't have to stop or yield to you unless there is a stop sign or something right before your driveway.
I don't know how close your driveway is to the traffic lights, so I might be a little off depending on the situation.... |
