Parking on a footpath is never allowed. If by a footpath, you mean a pavement, it is illegal UNLESS it is allowed!
On those sreets where parking on, or partly on, the pavement is allowed, there are signs displayed indicating this, and there are white markings on the pavement to indicate the parking areas. |

Not sure if it's illegal but it's downright annoying especially when they don't leave much room on the pavement.
When my children were of an age to need a pushchair I used to make my point by scraping the pushchair along the side of the offending vehicle. It used to make a lovely mark. |

As you are hearing, yes, it is illegal and you may ask why the police do not do something about it. However, think about it a little. People mostly park with two wheels up on the footpath only in narrow roads and I do not think they are conciously trying to be obnoxious or anti-social but are trying to ensure there is sufficient clearance for any vehicle to pass them without risk of damage. A care worker friend of mine parked in a narrowish road recently when doing a call and came out to find her offside wing mirror in pieces' - £400 to replace!
But having said the above, it should be common courtesy for anyone parking (to reduce risk of damage to their car) partly on a footpath to make sure they leave sufficient clearance for pedestrians and prams. |

At least in Arizona it is illegal and subject not only to a fine but also vehicle can be towed and this is an expensive proposition. |

Illegal, but try to get something done about it.
I witnessed a 'close call' a couple of months ago, when a young woman with a pushchair was forced to walk onto the road at a traffic light controlled 'T' junction, with railings round the corner radius, because a car was parked taking up the whole width of the pavement. A car coming from the 'leg' of the junction had to swerve to avoid a collision with the woman and pushchair and she became more than a little upset by the incident. My route took me past the local police station about 150yards away, so i called in to express my concern about the parked car. I just could not believe it when I was told by the duty sergeant, that it was a COUNCIL MATTER, and had nothing to do with the police. It wasn't until I more or less insisted that something be done, that the sergeant said he would send someone to 'look into the matter'. Almost half an hour later I walked back past the traffic lights only to find the car still there.
Can anyone be forced to take action? Not if you live here they can't !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

PEOPLE PLEASE READ THE HIGHWAY CODE!!!!!!!!

The words "Must Not" mean that it is a law and therefore you can get done for it. The words "should not" are merely advisory, but can be used as evidence. |
