This is a strange question.?

i was in oxford in may this year and on the way home back up the motorway (on either sunday the 13th or monday the 14th) we noticed a big cloud of dust being kicked up in the opposing lanes. next thing we knew a green mg rover bounced off the centre barrier and rebounded into the side of a truck. we couldnt stop but it looked pretty serious. would there be any way to find out if he survived?

yeah sorry i should have mentioned two things. i wasnt the driver of the car i was in, and we were going the opposite direction and would have had to cut through two lanes of traffic at seventy mph to get to the hard shoulder in time

Yeah I live in Banbury and I heard bout that, no sorry the driver was killed, and someone else was injured.

You should contact the oxford police and ask them. They may need someone who saw something in case the people did not survive or cannot recall. I am sorry to say but why could you not stop and help?

That is so sad and to be honest i know you could not stop but I would have phoned the police that day as you were a whitness all little details help the police find out what happened. Give them a call you still may be of help but doubt they will give to much away.

not strange at all your a human and concerned you did the right thing as you were on a motorway you continued on your journey and not as somebody else pointed out that you didnt stop at the scene of a crime?! ugh!. anyway the transport police for that area will have a record of the incident and it should be on CCTV. motorway gantrys have the cameras as standard. ask the transit police for info.

So some think you should have stopped on the hard shoulder your side and made your way across to the other carriageway?
maybe if the motorway was deserted, otherwise plain foolish and likely to cause a further accident. Many cars behind the accident would have had to stop anyway.

Whenever you witness an accident, it is your legal responsibility to stop and render aid. Put yourself in the shoes of the innocent victims here. Wouldn't you want people stopping to help you? Besides the fact that you may be able to help police piece together what happened, what if the victims need witness' statements for legal purposes? I have a hard time with people who decide that going their own way is more important than helping a fellow human being in need.
