Three crashes in a car accident?
|
I remember hearing that in any given car crash, there are three crashes that occur:
1. The car hitting the object, obviously.
2. The person in the car stopping suddenly, either on the steering wheel or by the seat belt and airbag
3. The internal organs stopping suddenly as the external body comes to a sudden halt, possibly causing internal tearing
First, where can I find information on these three types of crash? When I search for "three types of crashes in car accidents", all I get are news articles where three cars crashed.
Second, what I'm really interested in is the third one. I thought it might be called "internal whiplash" or something, but when I looked it up, I found that whiplash is just something that happens to the neck. So, where can I find information about the the effects of a car crash on internal organs? Additional Details UCANTCME: You just coppied and pasted what nickay53 wrote. Never before have I seen such blatant and dispicable piggy backing. You should be ashamed of yourself. I don't know how you ever became a "top contributor".

I found a website with information on the damage that car crashes can do to the internal organs. Below is a brief summary of some of the bodily damage from the website.
whiplash - When this ‘whiplash’ occurs, the lower part of the spine moves well beyond its normal range of motion, causing injury to the ligaments and discs (the fluid-filled sacks between your spinal bones) in that area.
The Spine -
If you are involved in a car accident at a speed greater than 45mph it can be assumed that you have a spinal injury. Below that speed you shouldn’t create forces large enough to cause paralysis.
The force at which your body is jolted backwards and forwards and side-to-side often damages discs, causing them to perforate. In more serious accidents the actual bones can be forced together with such ferocity that they can fracture, damaging the spinal cord, which will result in paralysis.
Also here is another website that shows the causes of a car accident. Not sure if it helps, but I tried.

THE CAR COLLISION
During a crash, the car crashes to a stop. At 30 mph, a car hitting an object that is not moving will crumple in about two feet.
As the car crushes, it absorbs some of the force of the collision.
THE HUMAN COLLISION
The second collision is the "human collision". At the moment of impact, passengers in the car are still traveling at the vehicles original speed.
When the car comes to a complete stop the passengers continue to be hurled forward until they come in contact with some part of the automobile.
For example, the steering wheel, the dashboard, the front window or back of the front seat. Humans in a crash can also cause serious injuries to other humans when they collide with each other.
People in the front seat of a car are often hit by rear-seat passengers as they fly forward with incredible force.
THE INTERNAL COLLISION
In a crash, even after a human body comes to a complete stop, its internal organs are still moving.
Suddenly, these internal organs slam into other organs or the skeletal system. This "internal collision" is what often causes serious injury or death.
Imagine what happens when someone's head collides with the windshield of a car. After the person stops moving the brain hits the inside of the skull.
The result may be only a mild concussion or there could be permanent brain damage.
Nope.........I have the site with this information that I answered three or four days ago and did not copy and paste it from the above nor did it look at the above link........... |
