To those who don't turn on your headlights?

Just do like Canada.
Make all new cars have daytime running lights that come on when you turn your car on.

People are stupid. They only put their lights on when they can't see because it is dark. They probably don't wear their seat belts either.

Because they have no common sense. They don't realize it's just as important to be seen as to see. They think that if they can't see their headlights on the road they don't need them on.

I have my opinions, and my reasons for them.
I also ride a motorcycle for my usual transportation.
Always on headlights were made mandatory for those years ago, in the name of safety. Supposedly the person who didn't see me would see the light. I can tell you from experience that it didn't work.
I have also been in many funeral processions.
Vehicles in a funeral procession have their lights on for a reason - it identifies them as they pass through the intersections.
Now, we have all kinds of people with lights on...
They don't know why, or what for. They don't recognize the requirements or the laws that have been around for generations.
How would you feel being cut off proceeding to a best friends funeral?

People need to learn to drive. Period.
There is no substitute for the operator's responsibility.
"I didn't see" is NOT the other guy's fault.
Interrupting a funeral procession due to sheer stupidity should be punishable by mandatory jail time.

You are preaching to the choir on this one! It's a pain in the neck down here in Florida. Not only do they not turn on the headlights like they are supposed to, but they put on the 4 way flashers and drive in the left lane! At 35 miles an hour below the speed limit!

I ride a bike, in all and any weather. I have no "wipers", but can still see well enough to ride. (The wind blows most of it away when I'm moving.) But these wacko's who don't run their headlights when it it is dark and nasty out really get my goat!

Yeah, fine. You can see from your car, but can anyone else see YOU! To all the non-headlight using people out there, I give you the one finger peace sign salute. You should not have a license. Or even a bicycle!

Good on you! Go get 'em. The thing today is headlights on for safety. When my bike starts up, the headlight comes on. And I have three of them! I can't turn them off. Be glad to send you a pic of the 'ol gal if you want. I get lit up, and stay lit. Better to see, and better for people to see you.

Day time running lights aren't really the answer either. With no rear lights they're still hard for following traffic to see.

It is because they can see you with your headlights on and don't give a thought as to whether or not they can be seen. It is the same with the construction sites...large signs saying you must turn your headlights on and maybe 1 in every 3 cars have their headlights on. I start out with my lights on and leave them on until I stop. People have so many other none important things on their minds...must call Aunt Ethel and get her corn fritter recipe right now, must get this dirt out of my eye, must get to the mall for the big sale, must read this article in the newspaper....all while driving! How can they be expected to cram a thought like turning their headlights on into that small brain space they have???

Why do I see so many people here pulled over by the police for driving at 9PM (it gets dark at 4PM) with their headlights off? Do they not notice that their dashboard is dark too?
