Traffic Camera Question?

There are actually two photgraphs taken. The first is shot at the moment the light turns red. This shot should clearly show which cars are already IN the intersection (legal) and which cars have not. Then a second photo is taken, a fraction of a second later, showing the same intersection at the same angle. If ANY of the cars that were behind the line at the time of the first shot, show up in the intersection in the second photo, then THESE cars have clearly run the red light.

There are NO tickets for running a yellow light. And, there are NO flashes, no matter what you may read here. And, you shouldn't be looking around at the light poles, trying to SEE the flash when you should be paying attention to the traffic while ENTERING and passing through the intersection.

Those traffic cameras do not have a flash but they are sophisticated enough to capture a clear image of your face and your license plate if you are attempting to run a red light. Yellow don't worry about. I ran yellows with cameras and received nothing in the mail such as a ticket. That should not be taken to mean that it is OK to proceed through an intersection on a yellow. But just like you, it turned yellow right as I was entering the intersection, but you probably won't receive a ticket for your incident. If the light turns red as you get to the other side of the intersection, that means you had plenty of opportunity to stop when it was turning yellow. Unless the traffic was so thick and moving so slow, you may have entered an intersection on the green, only to be red as you inched your way to the other side. I have turned left after the light turned red when I was in the middle of an intersection due to heavy traffic oncoming traffic. No ticket there.

If youi didn't see a distinct flash, like a quit piece of lightning, you won't get a ticket. You'll know when you get a camera ticket.

BTW, anytime yoiu're in the intersection and it turns red, even if you're back tires are just crossing the second crosswalk, tha'ts running a red light. But you apparently made it through.

I was caught by one of those devices in Ohio a couple of years ago, If you trip them, you will know. the lights are very bright, and also i don't believe they are tripped until the light is actually red. I wouldn't worry to much about it. Just try to be more aware of your surroundings and what the signals are doing. "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". Good Luck

the camera's are set to take a picture if your not a certain distance through the intersection once light has turned red.

it would be unlawful for them to ticket you based on a picture where the light was still yellow.

If the camera snapped you while you were in the intersection on the red then you might receive a ticket in the mail. That would entail that your license plate is identifiable and your face is identifiable. A California coworker of mine received one of these while he was traveling in Oregon, and there was no way an average person would have been able to identify the person behind the wheel. That is a key point if you have to challenge it in court.
