Traffic Ticket - following to close?

My daughter got pulled over the other day and the cop wrote her a ticket for following to close to the car in front of her. I have heard of people getting tickets like this after getting into an accident but never just getting pulled over for it. She had a friend in the car with her and they both say she was not following too close to the car in front of her. This was on a two way street with a turning lane in the middle of the two lanes. I have rode with her and I have never seen her following too closely. How would we go about fighting this ticket? The cop said she was less than a half a car length from the car in front of her. How he knew this I am not sure since he was behind her. Help!!!

Sorry but the officer was probably quite correct. If she was specifically pulled over for tailgating, it was likely an extreme instance. Just because she doesn't do it in front of you doesn't mean she doesn't do it. The best thing to do is just help her learn that it is a really dangerous practice and why. Seriously reduced reaction time and visibility, just to name a few. Rear-end collisions are very preventable and there is no good excuse for any of them. It's better to teach her that now rather than defend it and end up having to clean up after a disaster later.

Yeah,I can see where you are coming from. The POLICE OFFICER (that is what we people who have respect for them call them), got out of his perfectly warm car to go up and harass your daughter by giving here a ticket that might just change her driving habits which in turn might just save her or someone else's life. She probably perceives trafffic like you, because I can tell when a car in front of me is following another car to close. Why not take the POLICE OFFICER'S side and realize your daughter was wrong?
