Suzuki Grand Vitara would be my top pick since it is decent in a crash, better then most for gas mileage (28mpg highway) and it is also insanely dependable but then what Suzuki isn't? Honda CRV would also be a decent pick. I read lots of owner reviews and check safety ratings since i'm also buying a car soon and I'm a car buff. I also have owned a few Suzuki's and they were the best vehicle ever and i have never heard of a bad Suzuki. |

I'd say something like a Hyndai Sonata or Trailblazer. I recommend you don't get an SUV, but they are practically giving them away at this point. |

Jeep Cherokee XJ, with a 2.5L Straight 4 and a 5speed.
Small motors will help them to learn to be patient on the road.
Manual transmissions will help them to learn some essential driving skills, make them smart drivers.
Jeep are good reliable vehicles that lost a long time and wont break when your kid hits a curb. |

I'm not sure what qualifies as midsize, but Nissan makes a quality product. The Murano and Rogue are both good. |

why give him a SUV, just get him a used Jeep from like Carmax and w.e.
Those things are 4x4's and should probably help if he is gonna go driving in the winter and hes still kinda new to driving, or int he rain. Also if he ever goes onto a curb. Those jeeps and the big wheels and w.e. could probably take more pounding then regular cars.
I mean he's a teen why do want to give him a SUV get him a 4 seater car. |
