What's the safest lane to drive in?

If I'm on a freeway that's three lanes each way, what's the safest lane to drive in, assuming I want to drive exactly the speed limit?

Well that depends on you. The right lane seems to be the one where everyone drives when they are nervous about driving on a freeway, or they just want to take their time. However, I think the correct lane is the middle lane. The right lane is normally for people turning off or merging on...the left lane is for passing.

considering that the left "passing lane" is often barracaded with slower drivers, the middle lane is often the safest.

The far right lane, as the traffic there is typically moving the closest to the speed limit (the others are faster).

exactly the speed limit?? how bout any lane I'M not in...

better yet use the side street to the right of the freeway...

The lanes seem to get faster moving the farther you go to the left. The far right lane is most likely the best for traveling the speed limit.

The drive threw lane. No realy, the carpool lane with the middle lane being second. It all depends how fast you are going.
