What advice can I give my 16 year old sister that just got her liscense?

I agree, your sisters driving habits are too aggressive and dangerous. She seems clueless that the state isn't obligated to give her a license, it is only a privilege to drive. She keeps driving as you say she is, it will not be long before she finds out the hard way when she is facing a license suspension.

From the way you describe your sister, just showing her statistics and having her read the research etc isn't going to phase her & make her see just how dangerous her driving style is. So if reasoning with her doesn't work, then let her see first hand what can happen & drive down to a junk yard & show her a car a teen driving stupid was in & wrapped it around a telephone pole, or if she is totally hard headed, take her to the county morgue & let her see up close the end result of dangerous driving & driving aggressively.

Sometimes, it takes something to scare them straight to finally get them to realize that they are not 10 feet tall and bulletproof.

Tell her to keep her cool/To be patient don't drive too fast and for how dangerous she could be killed in an accident the final one is:Because when you drive too fast in a cross road for example a car passing from the left and your sister is driving fast she could crash into the car/cars and really bad things will happen!

Go online and show her some pictures of what peoples FACES look like after a particularly gruesome crash. That put me off driving fast. let her know that where ever she goes there are people who are waiting for her to come home so if she must do something fun while driving, do wheelies on the beach. Thats about my limit but driving on the road is NOT the place to start joking around. Tell her she wont only kill herself she'll probably kill someone else and their children too. better safe than sorrry

well if shes driving too fast she may hit a pedestrian and kill them... That would be the worst thing.. imagine the tragedy for that persons family

The faster you go the less time you have to avoid a dangerous situation and the longer it takes to come to a stop .
Your sis is very young and has to learn a lot . Tell her to drive like she has a raw egg strapped to the sole of her shoe.Always leave plenty of room ahead of you .

Quite honestly, your sister sounds like a VERY aggressive driver and DOES NOT belong on the road until she can learn how to control her bad driving habits and emotions. An aggressive driver is NOT a safe driver. Driving too fast is completely unacceptable. She is endangering her life and others around her (i.e. other motorists, children playing, pedestrians, etc.). Many people DO NOT realize the all-seriousness of their actions until it's too late. It sounds to me as if she has no regard for public safety. Additionally, giving others the finger can lead to road rage or someone wanting to seek deadly revenge against her. She better refrain from giving the finger. Lastly but not least, the car's horn is NOT designed to be used to express anger or frustration to other drivers. The car horn is meant to be used to an alert another driving (i.e. someone sitting a light that has just turned green, etc.). Your sister is an accident waiting to happen. I'm afraid that it's going to take a lot more than you just talking to her. Since you are well aware of her driving habits, you need to take action before her actions catch up to her and she is found dead in the car! If you let her continue to drive the way she is, you are not helping the situation.

If she will hear you out, here a few recommendations:

(a) Show her some photos of cars that have been involved in fatal crashes;
(b) Make her read some articles of recent fatal car crashes;

Again, Iâ€™m afraid it might not be enough to convince her. Many people that act the way she does usually have some other problems that require â€œprofessional helpâ€.

Here are some recommendations for you:

(a) Take her car keys and prohibit her from driving if you are able to. If that creates problems, contact your local Police Department or Sheriffâ€™s office and request that she is followed around by a marked or unmarked unit. Let them continue citing her violation after violation until her license gets revoked.
