You're right. But unfortunately I don't think there is a law relating to this.
As far as I know cycling proficiency is done here (in Scotland) in Primary 6...that is about age 10. |

you should not be allowed to ride a cycle on a road at any age period, Because none of them obey the highway code.
You should only be allowed to use cycle paths. |

I think that any road user should be liability insured, that way if they cause an accident or damage the victims have recourse.
As a junior I was able to get such insurance cheaply through the British Cycling Federation.
The govt is probably scared to bring in legislation relation to this, lest it be accused of trying to discourage people excercising.
Also they should make wearing helmets compulsary.
I make all of the above points as a keen cyclist who has been hit by some of the maniacs they let drive cars, and who don't have the excuse of youth or lack of experience. |

Thats why they make bike lanes or footpaths for ! How would you control the age of children riding bikes on the road. You don't noramlly get id til your 17. |

As soon as you have passed your Cycling Preficiency test you should be allowed to - I actually think that is the case. |

it not only depends on the age but also the height. |

Maybe the question needs re-wording and the laws amending.
Adults should not ride on pavements no matter how busy the roads.
Children should be allowed to ride on footpaths only under adult supervision.
But at what age does a child become an adult when riding a bike? 8? 10? 14?
A hard one this, nearly as bad as oap's & disabled people thinking they can drive their mobility scooters how fast they like. |

It's illegal to cycle on the pavement, so work it out. |

It is COMPULSORY for cyclists of ALL ages to be on the road. As it ILLEGAL ride on the pavements.
As a pedestrian I have been knocked over by cyclists and called a silly b###h for walking on the pavement. |
