What are the actual applying laws regarding children and seat belts, specifically those 5 years and under??

ignorant relatives are allowing their young children to ride in the front seat or in the back using only the car's restraint. We tried to explain that it is so unsafe, however she says the rta told her that its not illegal? How do we get it through that she endangering her childrens life not doing so??

And what people like your friend don't realize, if a cop pulls her over, she doesn't just get a ticket, she can actually be arrested for child endangerment. People just don't realize how serious these laws are now.

I'm not sure what state you live in but I believe in Minnesota the laws state that a child under 12 years old must be seated in the back seat and that if they are under a certain weight(not sure what weight) they must be seated in a child safety seat. You're right, your relatives are ignorant, and hopefully they don't learn their lesson the hard way.

most states its 5yrs old or 60 pounds they can ride in just a seat belt but any kid under that has to be in a car seat and it doent matter where in a car they ride if they have seat belt or are in a car seat... just safer when in back you can find the info by typing your state name and seat belt law and really its none of your business really who wear a seat belt or not.. im sure today theres about one million people not wearing them and living just fine seat belt to save lifes but just as many who dont wear them dont get killed either an dreally many who wear them all the time die any ways from wreak
