What are the best tires for autos on the market.?

There is no absolute best. What is best for you depends on you, your vehicle, where you drive, how you drive, how much you drive, what you are willing to give up.

For my wife the best tires were Michelin Primacy MXV4s.

Michelins are not expensive for what you get. We got them last month for her Beetle: 205/55R16 Primacy MXV4, DOT rating of 640AA, guaranteed 60,000 miles treadlife with "A" traction. Purchased/mounted at Costco for $578.83 for four including lifetime repair/rotate/pressure checks inflated with nitrogen.

I personally run Bridgestones on all of my vehicles except one (Michelins). It is an older sports car and I haven't put it on the road yet so no comment on those tires.

But, if the truth be known, all the major Brand names make tires that are more than capable of meeting the demands of modern cars.

About the only tire that I don't recommend is Goodyear but that is only because I find their handling in the rain too quirky for my driving style. Otherwise, they are an excellent tire.

More info would be needed for what type of vehicle the tires are for, but I can say a good tire across the board would be Cooper. They are reasonable in price and get good mileage. I agree Dunlop are good too, but the Coopers should be fine for any application.

If in doubt stick with what the manufacturer supplied when the vehicle was new. They know there own vehicles better than you do.

I upgraded to Pirelli P6000 in 205/55V15 at a total cost of about Â£550 but that was on a 1988 Model Alfa-Romeo 75. Handles beautifully on these and they are still better than 6mm of tread after 11500 miles which is pretty good.

It all depends on what your drving habits are, and how many miles you go each year.

You easily get 4 new tires for 50,000 miles, purchased, mounted and aligned for no more than $650.00. Personally, I have always used Dunlop tires.

I've had extremely good luck with Bridgestones on everything. At one point I always bought Michelins, but the stones have shown to be as good at less money.

With the advent of the asian tire market in the us competition has stiffened..You have to give more info, like what type of car, suv you have..tires for a mini van are drastically different in price and construction than a corvette..and the most expensive tire doesn't mean the best quality. For example I owned a 1987 Mustang. the stock tires were Goodyear Gator-backs at about $150 a tire..they were horrible in the rain..switched to some Dunlops at nearly half the price and the tire was superior in all weather conditions. Most ppl say Michelins are the best tire but they are costly..
