I have recently been caught speeding and like a man, I owned up and paid the price of the fine and the 3 points. I have just got some information and would this verifying if someone can.
If you go from a 40mph Dual Carriageway into a 30mph Dual Carriageway via a T-Junction, there has to be a 30 roundel on either side of the the carriageway (one for each lane). In my case, there was only one and I have been told I would've gotten away with it if I had pointed this out. Was I given correct information?
Additional Details
I have just received confirmation from head of an Anti-Camera Unit that wherever there is a change of speed limit, there needs to be a sign on both sides of the road facing the direction of travel. Where I got caught, there was only one.

If a road traffic sign is wrongly sited, not showing, not there, partly hidden then the offence cannot be committed.Get some date authenticated photographs, use a newspaper in the foreground, to show the fault you have found and right a letter and appeal against the fine in retrospect. |

well you could fight it!...there were to coppers up here in the northeast ,there speeding fines were quashed because the speedcamer signs were of a wrong type....bloody coppers. |

I think if the government wants to get one over on the motorist their case has to be air tight, that includes signage. Two web sites to look at. pepipoo.com and safespeed.org.uk.
Both have forums and info that may throw some light, but then might not. Worth a look though. |
