What are the speed limits for HGV wagons on UK roads?

Hi im an HGV driver and the answer is i can drive at 40mph on a single road, 50 on a duel carrage way and 60 on the motorway and 7.5tonne trucks are the same as us now and also we are not allowed to go in the third lane on a motorway.

single carraigeway national speed limit and hgv has to do 40mph so stop sitting up my backside in your car you will cause an accident.

dual carraigeway is 50mph and motorway is 60mph most trucks are limited to 56mph and increasing numbers are limited to 52mph like mine.

each lorry weighs different amounts, as you are aware weight limits vary and are signposted accordingly, some limits may be for 7.5 ton but allow access to larger heavier vehicles.

I think anything under 3 tonnes, as for a car.

Up to 7.5 tonnes, I think it's 50mph single carriageway, 60mph dual carriageway, 70mph motorway.

Over 7.5 tonnes, it's 40mph single carriageway, 50mph dual carriageway and 60mph motorway.

Most are limited to 56mph on motorways. It's 40mph on a single carriageway national speed limit road and 50 on a dual carriage. All other roads are restricted by imposed limits as per cars.

Some are 56mph others are 60mph... you,ll have to find out from police though !!!

The weight is 43 tonnes on newly plated trucks, older if not plated with modern regs is still 40 tonnes. Then you have special cat 1,2,3 which you don't have to worry about.
The limit is 40 on normal roads unless the limit states less in the road signs. You also have width regulations normally 2meters max unless cat 1-3 applies with signs displayed and lights special regulations apply.
50 on duel and motorways modern vehicles are supposed to be fitted with speed limiters that function, but you can over ride some of these older versions. which come in at 56mph and slow the engine down to the correct speed. Believe it or not Coaches and buses are supposed to be restricted as well.
I may have lost touch not living in UK any more. But it is the same in Europe restrictions apply but 95 kmh on Autobahns 90kmh duel carriageways 80 normal roads. so your European trucks could not realize they are speeding genuine! or not? but so many endanger other peoples lives with speeding. but I find the coaches the worst over here. I drive my 3.5 tonne van 95-100kmh which is not restricted on Autobahns, and coaches pass me and the wind from the speed feels like 130 or more they should be 100 max. the next worse I see is towing vehicles but that is highly dangerous at the speeds they drive at. they are also restricted 100 kmh and 50mph UK but very few I see driving at that speed.

What ever they can get away with, they are an absolute disgrace, particularly the tipper drivers.
