Got my Vote!!!!! I just answered a similar question, and I think fines should start at $250, be doubled with each offense, after three, you lose your license for 90 days. This was tested on the TV show 'MythBusters' and it was concluded that cell phone drivers are almost as dangerous as drunk drivers!!!
The exception to this might be using a headset or Bluetooth device.
People seem to have a hard enough time mastering each one (car and cell phone) individually, when they combine the two, its an accident waiting to happen!!!!!!! |

You got my support. I don't know how come all of a sudden ( in the last 10
years ) people have gotten so important, they have to drive around talking
on their phone. |

In New York it is a law that you cannot talk on your cell phone while driving. Half the people cannot drive as it is let alone yack on the phone. |

Here in Nevada they are trying to make it a law. Most O.T.R. drivers their companies will not allow you to use a cell phone while driving you tractor trailer. One day when enough people dies it will become a law. |

jeeeez, I can only hope that would happen in every state! Every time I see someone driving stupid, 9 times out of 10, they are talking on the _)*&#%^ phone! AFAIC, people don't have enough brain power to talk on the phone and drive safely at the same time. |

Here in the UK it is against the law to use a mobile (cell) phone in your car unless it is handsfree. You can also be ticketed for eating, drinking or smoking whilst on the move. Very few people get caught though because the police are pretty thin on the ground, especially specialist Traffic Patrols. The powers that be seem to think that excess speed rather than bad driving cause accidents and have installed speed cameras to trap the unwary. They make millions of £s out these cameras but road deaths are no lower as people still drive without concentrating on what they're doing, their cars are in gear but their brains are in neutral. What a surprise, they are often chatting on their phones! If you have no law to cover phone use in cars, bombard your elected officials with mail! Maybe you have loads of Highway Patrol who will be only too pleased to enforce a common-sense law. Good luck! |

It's a law in some countries already, but honestly, I feel that even if you take away their cellphones, reckless drivers will still be reckless- they'll just be changing the station, putting on makeup, checking out their coffee, looking over paperwork, etc. |

It is already illegal to talk on your cell phone in Washington DC. I think only some people are dangerous when they use a cell phone and drive. I don't think that the number of dangerous drivers and the number of accidents resulting from cell phone use justify passing a law. |

It already is in some cities. Some people can't walk and talk, let alone drive and talk at the same time. |

In many places in the USA, it is illegal to use a cell phone while driving. I have heard claims that cell phone users are more dangerous than drunk drivers, and there are a whole lot more of them. |

Even using a hand free or a bluetooth is still using a phone while driving;the conversation will make people drive bag |

If my memory serves, it's been proven that eating while driving is a bigger distraction than cell phones. Until you outlaw drive-throughs, you're swimming against the current. |

i think its a great law, although i would rather take the old people off the roads before talking on phones. |
