What do you think about the Click it or Ticket law?

Why should we have to wear seatbelts while driving but over 40 million kids dont wear seatbelts on a bus? Please what do you think about this? I think its a big scam to get money. What do you think?

some say that seat belts save lifes. Well not wearing seat belts saves lifes to. Im alive today for not wearing a seat belt when i rolled my car 7 times. .

I think anyone over 18 should be able to decide for themselves whether or not to wear a seatbelt....same thing with helmets.

If you rolled a car 7 times without a belt and lived to tell about it, your'e one of the very lucky few. It's said that God looks after fools and little children. Which one are you?

I personally don't give a rats a$$ if you turn yourself into hamburger out on the highway without a seatbelt. I concede your right to kill or maim yourself any way that you care to.

What I DO give a sh!t about is MY tax and insurance $$$ going to pay for YOUR right to self-destruct. That bugs the hell out of me. If you're willing to waive any and all insurance or state funded medical treatment following any accident in which you weren't wearing a seatbelt and if you are willing to waive any state or insurance funded support for your family should you bite the big one while not wearing a belt, then I'm quite willing to change the law and let you self-destruct at will.

Oh yeah, one more thing. There occasionally are accidents where a proximate cause of the accident was where the driver or a passenger failed to wear a belt. I was in one many years ago in TX and was nearly killed. Along with your waiver above, you're going to have to provide unlimited liability for any such accident that you might cause. I don't ever want to go through that exercise again -- that bone head that nearly killed me had minimum liability, it didn't cover my losses.

You are right about one thing. It IS about the money. MY money, my friend! If unbelted occupants were simply left on the side of the road to fend for themselves, insurance premiums would drop 30% or more. And so would the cost of running the local ambulance service (paid for by my tax dollars.) You willing to accept that as a condition of not using a belt? Somebody might, but I'll bet that 95% of the non-users will NOT be willing to accept such conditions. Are you a 5%'er?

kennywbc
honestly, i think its a good thing.
Why?
because people are so irresponsible, that when there isn't a law, they'll just drive around w/o them. then it becomes everyone's problems because they crash and die or become seriously injured and everyone's insurance premiums go up--not to pay for the guys who where their seatbelts and follow the law, but for the small percentage of morons who break it.
as far as school buses go, i don't know why they don't

Govermental reports allege "roll-over" crashes are the least occurring type of auto-crashes in the United States....and yes: seatbelts in such crashes ARE near useless.

However, seatbelt use during side-impact, head-on and rear end collisions DO save lives....and they've been given some back up with air bag implementation.

And yes: the seat-belt law, like many others, ARE used as a money raiser of local cities and townships.

Your situation does occur but 9 times out of 10, a seatbelt WILL save a life. We have to have laws for the dingdongs that won't wear one because they feel its THEIR life however when they are seriously hurt and in a coma in the hospital with no insurance, who do you think pays? ME and YOU. So , that is why we have seatbelt laws. Buckle up, the life you save could be your own!

Government shouldn't be about keeping you safe from yourself. Yes seat belts keep you safe but it should not be governments job to protect you from stupidity. Yes it is a big money scam. Why else would they keep raising the fine. Of coarse buses don;t need seat belts, governments aren't going to fine themselves.

Chris; not wearing a seatbelt on my 16th birthday; is the main reason i didnt die instantly in my car accident that put me in a coma...BUT i still CLICK IT! and so does anyone riding with me..BECAUSE although NOT wearing my seatbelt kind of in a sense is what saved me....ALL THE OTHER ACCIDENTS i was in wouldnt have put a scratch on me...if only I had been wearing my seatbelt.

I agree.
But the law is a start.

Maybe we should write to the lawmakers to introduce seatbelts in school buses

Yeah, but my daughter is alive today because a seat belt kept her from getting crushed to death when she was broadsided in an accident. You must've been driving awfully fast for your car to roll 7 times. You're lucky to be alive.

Seat belts save lives. I've been wearing one since 1972. I'm also a very defensive driver.

Well... I think my body is important enough to me that I wear a seat belt.

I think that the people who are dumb enough to not wear one.... need the Darwin Award.

It's an unconstitutional law.... Why does the government have the power to tell me what to do with my body.
You are correct that money is the root cause. Insurance lobbyists lined the right politicians pockets and the law was born.
