What does it mean to drive on the left or right side of the road?
Find answers to your legal question.

What does it mean to drive on the left or right side of the road?

Does it mean that the location of the shoulder differs? Or the flow of traffic somehow? There is always a left and a right side on a two way street. That's why it's called a two way street. So one car has to drive on the left AND one car on the right. So what does it mean to drive on the"left" or "right?"

It means exactly that, In a country where you drive on the left side (such as the UK) you will drive on the left side of the road. All the traffic signs are designed like that & the road infrastructure. The left hand side of the car will be on the left side of the road or the lane you are in. Most cars in such a country will have the drivers side on the right so you can see approaching traffic! The exact opposite will be the case in countries where you drive on the right!

it's mainly for a four-lane street, such as a highway...
the left lane is considered the "Fast Lane" and the right lane is considered the "Slow Lane"
