What happens when a dead body can't be extracted from a car after an accident?

Does the body and the car get towed to the medical examiners?

Hmm I think there's always a way to take the corpses out!

Any body can be extracted from a car after an accident. Rescue crews will use the jaws of life to pry open the wreakage.

First of all, the term is EXTRICATION, not extraction, unless you're pulling teeth.

As a retired firefighter/first responder, I've never seen a case in which we couldn't remove the body. There are techniques to free a body, no matter how badly it's trapped.

We've had to literally disassemble a car to free the occupant; that particular time, the car, with the occupant still inside, was loaded on a rollback and taken to the fire station in order to free up traffic and to control bystanders.

In the 1980's, there was a church bus accident in Carrollton, Kentucky which killed over twenty chldren and adults; the bus was loaded on a flatbed trailer and taken to a site where each body could be logged by position in the bus, means of entrapment, etc. before it was removed.

They use a machine called the jaws of life. Usually it's to save the person but they also use it to extract a dead body from a car after an accident.

The fire department would first extract the body then that is the time it will be brought to the medical examiners

The car would be disassembled to remove the body.

They get the jaws of life
and get the body out.
I don't think they would take the car.

The fire dept has a number of tools for this. Special metal cutting saws, hydraulic devices (jaws of life) maybe even torches if needed. They get ALL bodies out eventually.

What exactly is going to happen that the body can't be extracted BUT a Medical Examiner would be able to do ANYTHING with it? I'll be honest about the only way they wouldn't get to the body is if it was crushed to a cube basically. The car would be destroyed to the point the body is destroyed as well. You have to remember that the Fire Department or whoever responded(because eventually there would be responders to the specific car) would have tools that could cut through the car. For it to be totaled to the point they COULDN'T get the body would mean they could just cut the roof off or anything else to get to it, which would mean that it would probably be pointless to bother with it for the M.E. as well.
