What information do I need to get if I am in a car accident?

When in a car accident you usually want to call 911 because they will provide you with a report. This report is helpful in getting insurances to pay. You also want to get the other involved drivers' insurance, name, address, license plate #. All the basics that you may need in order to identify them and their vehicle.

although you got a good answer here is a little tip, use your cell phone to take a pic of the car and the plate #of the car possibly one of the driver or any occupants providing you can do so safely.

If the accident happened after dark, note whether the streetlights were on. Estimate your speed and that of the other vehicle. Be sure to record the exact time, date and place the accident happened.
