The way the gard rail is shaped makes it very strong just like cardboard is made strong with the corrugations. |

For one, the shape of the guardrail.. Helps take the impact..
Two.. They use wooden posts to hold the rail.. .. so the wood takes the impact, shatters, and you slid along the steel rail..
HOWEVER! You would be MUCH safer hitting a guardrail with a car, then you would an SUV or truck... Your center of gravity is lower.. In a truck, you are more likely to go up, and over the rail. |
