What is the age to sit in the front seat of a car in Connecticut?

Here is the law for all states relating to car seat regulations.

SAFETY BELTS at age 8 and older or taller than 4'9". All children age 12 and under should ride in the back seat.

There is no official age restriction for front seating in CT, just good sense guidelines. If your car has a front passenger airbag that is always on, you should not allow a person under 5 ft tall to sit there. Most newer cars have sensors in the seat that will disable that airbag if the passenger doesn't weigh more than some number (around 100 lbs, I think). Front passenger are required to wear their seat belt in CT always.

Needless to say, you shouldn't put a baby seat in the front seat of a car unless the airbag can be disabled (either manually or automatically as described above).


EDIT- note to friendly stranger - those are great guidelines, but they are not laws.
