What is the antilock brake system?

Anti-lock is a system of metering the rotation of a vehicle's wheels. In the event that a wheel locks up during braking, the system will interrupt the brake pressure there and allow that wheel to roll again. The purpose is to prevent skidding accidents.

In cars with the system, when you brake really hard you should feel a hammering sensation through the pedal as the system opens and closes valves to prevent the wheels from locking up.

A system that does not allow your brakes to lock up if you mash the pedal too hard.

it pumps up your brakes for you when you come to a stop in bad weather like snow or ice. instead of you doing it your self it does it for you.
