What is the appropriate age when it's considered safe for a child to sit in the front seat of a car?

The law, in my state, says12, but this is based on the assumption that a 12-year old is a certain height. It's really the size that matters because airbags on cars can cause a significant damage if they blow up in your face, so the taller a person is, they will have a better opportunity to circumvent getting burned in the face by an airbag. Certain cars will recommend the appropriate age for the type of airbag also. You can look on the car's sun visor for this information.

It's not necessarily age, it's when you'r child is totally sitting back and their feet touch the floor, not dangling, there feet are touching the floor.

There really isn't an age in my state. It's by weight. 89lbs and up is suppose to be good. Oh and the person must be over 4'11". The funny thing is that by these standards I shouldn't be driving or sitting in the front seat of my car. I'm 4'10"1/2 and only 89 lbs.

well, i believe your supposed to have a child of 12+ years in the front seat.

I don't think it's determined by age. It's either weight or height.

7-12 its the size that matters

it's more of by height and weight,

Your child should be about 4' 9" tall and at least 60 to 80 pounds to properly fit an adult seat belt.

that's for the back seat itself.

but it's suggested that children stay in the backseat until they're ready to drive for themselves.

but otherwise i'd agree with age of 12.
