The speedometer fitted to your car. It will tell you when you are doing 30 in town or 70 on the motorway. If you choose to ignore it you cannot complain when the tickets and fines come your way.

I was told some time back by a copper that the machines you refer to are legal to own but illegal to use.

Yeah...... good question. Why is that we're not allowed to go racing all over the place.... that's just stupid to me!! Also what's the point in running all these adverts about how 'speeding kills'? What are people doing doddling on the road for, when you're wanting to race down the thing? Don't they ever think that you might be in a hurry? You could be trying to catch last orders at the pub or at least want to have a few anyway!!

Installing these cameras in the pretence that they're trying to slow down the traffic.... if everyone we were allowed to go at whatever speed we wanted, then there would be no need for them and they would save all that taxpayers money by not making them in the first place.... and then the likes of us wouldn't have to go out and waste more money trying to detect them.

I mean, what's the chances of you or I ever hitting and killing someone......??? I don't have any children (anymore) so what's the point in ME slowing down... what have I got left to lose???

It might not even be a person that you hit... it could be another car with four young folk, or just a family returning from a nice night out or a Sunday lunch.... if they were driving so slow, why are they on the road if they can't go faster without losing control?

Good luck in your quest for a speedtrap detector... I hope you find a really good one that's cheap.... cheaper the better........ what's the cost of someone's life anyway.... and besides, they might not even die when you hit them... they might just get crippled or be vegetables.

Ask yourself this......... How would you feel if you lost a loved one because some guy/gal was speeding? Ask the same question for a drunk driver. Think really hard, really really hard...... would you be angry? Or would you just shrug it off, as afterall, what's the chances of it ever happening to you?

I agree, the cheapest are you eyes and the inbuilt speedo. And as a user of a radar speed gun in the past I must tell you that the range of the gun (if hand held) is far greater than the range of the sensor you put in your car!! By the time you see them, they got you!

Your car already has one. There is this really neat gauge in your instrument cluster that you never pay attention to, and it has numbers on it.

When the numbers on that funny looking gauge are the same as the numbers on those insipid signs by the road that you ignore, I swear you will not get a speeding ticket.
