OMG NO PEOPLE!
You can only cross lines that are broken
Double yellow means traffic is flowing in two directions
Single yellow indicates the end of the leftmost lane.
Jeez people this is why there are so many accidents |

You can not pass when there is a double line, if there is a single and a dotted line then you can pass on whichever side of the road has the dotted line. |

When your lane of traffic has the yellow line on your side of the road (left of the centerline) then it means you can't pull across that line to pass. If that same condition exists for the oncoming traffic with them also having a yellow line on their side of the centerline then it means that they can't pull across the yellow line to pass.
Simple explanation is that a double yellow line means no passing in either direction. |

A double yellow line means neither side is to pass. NO passing for anyone.
When there is a single yellow line, there is usually a white line also and if the yellow line is on your side of the white line, you can't pass. If it is on the other sie, it means they cannot pass. Broken line mean you can pass with caution.
I have seen a yellow line when it comes up near a stop sign to tell you that you can't change lanes, even t hough they are going the same direction. So on a one way street or on lanes going same way, can have single yellow and that means no lane changes. Often done near stop sign or train track or over a bridge or place where it is especially tight or dangerous. that is only time I can recall seeing a single yellow line.
I don't recall seeing only a single yellow line without a white line there as well. If there is no white line there as well as the yellow line, then I am not sure. I'd have to assume no passing if solid yellow line.
However, you need to look carefully and see if there isn't also a white line as well as the yellow. Yellow on your side means you don't pass. |

you are not supposed to turn across or pass on a double yellow line. ( certain of this part, i got a ticket for it once.)
i THINK ( not sure) you are allowed to turn across a single yellow line. |

double yellow, means do not cross by penalty of law, one yellow means crossing is permitted but traffic speed and direction are changing (traffic flow change or end of left lane). Single yellow with crosshatches to another single yellow means expanded double (do not cross under penalty of law).
Yellow means the direction of traffic is changing (lane end or in other direction). while white means that traffic is in same direction current heading. |

The only reason I have ever seen a single yellow line, is if I was going down a one way street and there was no parking on either side. But there could be another reason. |

A single yellow solid line on your side of the road means you can't pass other cars there. If there is a broken yellow line on the other side they can pass other cars there.
A double yellow solid line means neither side can pass other cars there. |

single yellow is for a divided highway, where there is only traffic in one direction, double yellow means there are cars coming towards you on the other side with out some type of median or barrier between you. |

You may pass (go over the yellow line to do so) if it's a single yellow line, If it's a double yellow line, it is illegal to cross over the lines to pass another car, |

1 line = pass with care.
