What is the diffrence between square and roundabout?

rdenig_male
A square is an area of open land surrounded by building, often with an ornamental garden in the centre. They are usually built as part of town planning and layout, not as a traffic device. A roundabout is entirely a traffic device to control a junction usually, but not always, of a minimum of four roads which would otherwise meet at a cross roads. They allow a smoother flow of traffic than would be the case of a cross roads governed by traffic signals (although in recent years some large roundabouts with a number of roads feeding in may have auxilary signals at some of the junctions). Mini-roundabouts are often used in residential areas as a traffic calming measure.

A square is a public square: an open area at the meeting of two or more streets.

A roundabout is more like a traffic circle: a road junction at which traffic streams circularly around a central island.

Hope this helps.
