What is the legal consequences if I am driving with a baby without car seat?

It probably varies from state to state, but you probably have to pay a fine. In addition, it's very dangerous for the baby if you have an accident (or just brake hard), the baby could get injured or die. Why would you put you take that risk? Just buy a car seat; they aren't that expensive. If you don't have money to buy it, you could probably get one from the Salvation Army (for example) for free.

Screw the legal consequences. I have an EMT-B license in Texas, and I saw a very minor car wreck and stopped to help. Inside the suburban were no less than seven children, and none of them were restrained at all. I had to dig broken glass out of an infant's mouth so he could breathe again. The others were cut and bruised very badly. In the other car, the kid was in his car seat...not a scratch.

forget legal consequences what about the babies welfare. You should never do that because you never know what will happen. As far as legal I think it's a ticket.

Besides being a total FOOL, in Nevada you could get a ticket which would then increase your insurance rates, etc. Why would you take a chance on hurting a baby?????

i dunno, but it is very dangerous and very cruel, do you wear a seat belt? some firestations and police stations give them and install for free if you cant afford one

Well, in my state of Louisiana If you are stopped by the police you are ticketed and have to pay a fine(i'm not sure of the price). It would be wise to use a car seat regardless of the legal consequences but for the safety of your child.

It depends on where you live. There are different laws for different states, cities, countys, etc. As far as I can remember, here in Virginia, you are fined two times: one for yourself not doing it, and another for the child itself. It totals about 150 to 200 bucks. I may be wrong or it may have changed, but that should give you a basic idea. Check with your local courthouse or police department.

it all depends in what state, and city you live in. you can go to jail, have to take parenting classes, or just get a ticket. But remember it is extremly dangerous for the kid. use your best judgement, though sometimes you just can't use a car seat, just don't make it a habbit.
