In 1995, there were 84,000 pedestrian injuries, and 5585 fatalities, so based on those 89585 incidents, I guess your chance of surviving is 94%
However, I suspect that a large number of car-pedestrian accidents go unreported, so your odds are likely much better.
In any case, it's probably best to avoid being hit by the car in the first place. |

depends on alot of things. too much to tell. young person or old? what type of vehicle? at high speed or rather slow? how fast after the incident did they receive medical attention???
in general though, pedestrian vs. motor vehicle usually does NOT go in favor of the pedestrian. the car will always come out of it better. and the likelyhood of someone surviving could be very high or very low. ive been hit by a car moving 40 mph and ive survived. ive heard of pedestrians not surviving in incidents involving slow moving cars. its really case-by-case. |
