What is the minimum age for a child to be able to sit in the front seat of a car using a booster seat?

Ok people if your child need a booster seat. Then the child is too young and too small to be sitting in the front seat. Think about it people. Before you kill your child.

There is an age and height restriction, check the highway code, it should be in there I'd imagine.

Edit: IF YOU ARE IN THE UK - There is no minimum age, it states in the highway code (page 32, section 99,100):

FRONT SEAT:
Child under 3yrs - Correct child restraint must be used.
Child from 3rd birthday up to 1.35m (or 12yrs) - Correct child restraint must be used.
Child over 1.35m in height or 12 or 13 years - Seatbelt must be worn if available.

The driver must ensure that all children under 14 years of age / sit in an approved child restraint where required. If a child is under 1.35 meters tall a baby seat, child seat, booster seat or booster cushion MUST be used suitable for the childs weight and fitted to the manufacturers instructions.

some have a height limit, or until the child is a certain age...

You don't really need a law for this one. It is always safer, safety studies have proven, to have all children under the age of 13 in the back seat, in child safety seats, and at least wearing a seat belt.
IF there is a front end collision, air bags explode and they are at face and neck level with your child, and hurt your child badly, Not to mention that it's a front end collision, the idea is to put as much protection around your child as humanly possible.
