To wreck your car |

its all part of the current government policy of covert taxation and nanny statehood.
They wreck cars, you buy new parts, have less money keeping inflation down (less contraversial than a new tax)
They slow traffic making it safer for kids to cross roads without looking, thus giving them a false sence of security. The authorities seem unable to blame children (and adult pedestrians) for car acidents they are of couse faultless and beyond blame!
Finally, I suspect anyone who claims not to speed is either not telling the truth, or spending to much time waching your speedometer |

Well, most people don't WANT to wreck their cars, so they slow down for speed bumps , which is the whole purpose of them. To stop people from driving that fast requires making them uncomfortable to speed over bumps. If you own a low-rider, yes, you're gonna get it beat up. Sorry, unless you can stop others from speeding without expensive radar and cops on duty, they'll be around. |

They are designed to slow traffic in areas where there are chronic speeders. If you have a vehicle that has ground effects or modifications that are being damaged by speed bumps, avoid those residential streets that have them.
They don't typically use speed cameras in the residential areas where the speed bumps are. |

Yeah but there are others out there that do speed and so kids etc have to be protected somehow. They are a pain in the *** though. |

Speed bumps are there to help people go slower in parking lots or neighborhoods. Because when people speed over a speed bump, the suspension can get messed up, and you can hit your head and all that.
So you have to slow down during a speed bump. |

The damage caused by driving over speed humps at speeds within the law requires the replacement of shocks, springs, bearings and tyres. All of these items have VAT added to them.
So by damaging cars more ON PURPOSE they are rewarded with yet more cash to waste on cruise missiles and diesel and petrol for Army vehicles in Iraq.
All part of the Blair - Brown BUD (bleed-us-dry) partnership. |

Your right, they are meant to reduce speed but i tend to rip it between speed bumps. They do damage car suspension. Which idiot came up with that idea I wonder. |

Speed bumps oblige drivers to either slow down, or risk damaging their vehicle. They are installed in places where speeders have become a persistent problem, typically residential areas where the streets are being used as high speed shortcuts to heavy traffic areas.
Sometimes it's the only way to get people to act in a responsible manner. |
