Because there are places especially for driving cars at high speed. I think there's a famous track in Germany somewhere where you're pretty much allowed to go as fast a you like. Besides which, if there was an emegency and you needed to get somewhere fast would you rather be in car that went at 70mph or 160mph? |

People take their cars to tracks, there are countries with speed limitless roads, and sometimes you need to go really fast to pass |

You haven't lived until you've driven 160mph, and still had horses left to go. I love to drive FAST>>>> |

When a car manufacturer design and build a new car there are many different things that they need to take into consideration.
To speed is one of these factors, typically the sort of cars that are capable of speeds above 100mph are so called sport cars.
This cars car a high price tag and as such have to fight it out against cars of the same performance.
It would be a very brave owner who would spend £100k plus for a sports car that could only drive 70mph.
There have been plans for electronic limiters for general car production but the argument has always been "Just because you can go above the speed limit why would you?"

Then who would believe some snot nose kid when he says he was going that fast in his tall tales if his car would not go that fast he sure doesn't want anyone to find out he only went 55 mph. |

cars in europe can hop on the autobahn, but in america i think the max is 85 or 90. It's simply because rules were made to be broken. |

Seeing as most cars on the road today are capable of 70+, isn't your argument flawed?
Yep, blame the Nissan Micra drivers speeding on the cars ability to get past 70. Dangerous that..... no hang on. Majority of accidents do not have speed as the contributory factor. Argument null and void. |

Not only is the speed crazy, just think of how much extra gas they are using.I drive for a living and don't like spending money to buy gas and don't like the people that get the money I spend on gas. |
