It all started after a accident, a baby was in the back and was thrown from the vehicle into thick undergrowth, the driver was unconscious, it was only several hours later when family where informed and they asked how the baby was that anyone even new there was a baby in the car. People started to hand wright the signs the a firm probably cottoned on and thought hay ho easy money, now they are just annoying. |

The point? Why to tell the world your d*&k works of course. |

I have seen that sticker “Baby on Board”… maybe we should make some that say “Stupid Parent on Board” as well.

Nice one!
Or are they saying 'Because I have a baby on board I might not be concentrating on my driving, and really shouldn't be on the road at all' |
|

Miss Typo!

its ment to 'warn' the people behind that theres a child in the car, so drive more carefully, although i dont think anyone cares. |

They are an attempt to alter the driving habits of others on the road simply because somebody forgot to insert their diaphragm. |

So that in the event of an emergency, the fire brigade and police will risk their lives trying to enter a blazing car, where the driver has been too idle to remove the stupid sign, when there is no baby on board. |

As an ex-ambulance man I can tell you that the original idea was so that emergency services would know to search for a child. It's always possible that the child has been thrown out of the vehicle and is lying in a ditch. The problem with these things is that people don't remove the stickers when they aren't carrying a child which means that the emergency services spend valuable time searching for a possibly injured child when one wasn't in the vehicle in the first place. |

I think it's like advertising, even worse are the girls/women who drive around with cars like a soft toy cupboard.... more teddies & pink cushions than a 7 year old's bedroom..... it's just wrong!!
Surely if you can drive you should have grown out of that???... the sad thing is it always seems to be slightly unattractive 30 somethings.... |

If they are there to warn drivers not too drive close, they shouldn't be driving close whether a baby is in the car or not!!!
To the answer above me, what if they don't have the baby in the car at the time of the accident. |

Don't see the point myself i think what they hope for it to do is so that other drivers take care and do not harrass them etc cos they have a young thing on board to keep safe but i have seen plenty of cars with this on and they are loonys themselves speeding and being t*ts behined the wheel of their family car pissing everybody else off by speeding up, slowing down, and cutting up etc |

The very reason the first of these 'Baby On Board' signs came about, was because the emergency services (in the U.S.A., as it happens) DIDN'T check the scene of an accident thoroughly. A young child died in a wreck as a result. The grieving parents started making and handing out signs to families in their home town, in the hope of avoiding another similar tragedy.
Nowadays of course, most people expect you to drive more carefully, just because of the sign.
As if I'd be driving like an idiot anyway, eh? |

Totally agree...they irritate the hell outta me! For starters they are smallish, so you have to drive close to read it...that's a hazard, secondly, their baby is no more or less important than my grown up daughter, friends, whoever in my back seats...thirdly, they seem to advertising their fertility and annoying people who can't conceive!
Ban the stupid stickers!!!!!! |

They're warnings for everyone else to stay the hell out of whatever lane that car is driving in because they're admitting they're either going to drive like an overly cautious fool or that they think they've got the right to do whatever they want on the road and endanger others because they happen to have a baby in the car with them. |

I have always thought they think you will take more care if they have a baby on board......(like, don`t crash into me and kill my baby). But it doesn`t make any sense.
A crash is a crash is a crash, and might hurt or kill ANYONE!
Or if they are saying `My baby might be distracting me - so take special care` then they shouldn`t be driving like that anyway.

Oh those Safety First stickers? those are so other drivers will know to be careful around that driver, and also its good in an accident so the firemen or ambulence ppl can get the baby out first and right away, but I think they always check the back seat first anyway because there could be little kids or children in the back seat. |

It is so other drivers' are more careful when behind you... But surely it's your baby, you should be the one being careful? :P |

it means theres a baby on board. |

to try and claim parking spaces of course, i.e typical family parking spaces, if your kids are older and theirs are a baby, they expect you to give up the spot for them because they have a pram. Never mind the fact that my son has a learning difficulty and has difficulty walking. Clearly, their baby skips the queue.
These are the mothers you see in mothercare, that takes somebodies babybottle out of the free babybottlewarmer, so that they can warm theirs first. Really annoying.
Self-centred people who think the world revolves around them and only them. |

It's meant to put other drivers off driving too close to you....not for accidents....it's supposed to be so that other drivers give you breathing space...but I have a baby and they annoy me too! |

i don't think the point off them is for the emergency services, i think it is to make other drivers aware that there are babies in the car and to keep a safe distance from the car. |

the baby on board sign is ment to make people respect the young person on board and drive alittle more carefully around the car but i doubt it works. |

for other drivers to see -
so they will drive more carefully around the baby |

Well...I got a baby so when I see that sticker I sympathize with the guys inside that car and of course will more watchful. |

more likely they are for other drivers. the hope is that aggressive drivers and tailgaters will see the sign and give a little respect for life. |

It means "dont tailgate me, I have a baby" |

These signs/stickers are a sign that the driver is a proud parent. They want to let people know that their precious "cargo" is in their vehicle. I know that when I see one of these stickers I am more cautious. I certainly don't want to be in an accident in the first place, but if I were to hit a vehicle with a "baby on board" I would feel terrible. It's one thing to feel sorry for hurting an adult, but a baby....I could never forgive myself for a mistake in driving that caused a baby harm.
It also advertises to medical and emergency workers to search for the baby first in the event of an accident. |
