get the tire size of your tires and get tires for ice and snow (these are ONLY for ice and snow-not normal roadways) or get a winter tire.
you can go to www.tirerack.com
this site will give you evaluations of (pretty much) all tires and you can make a decision based on their performance rating versus cost. then you can buy them from tire rack or your local tire dealer. for my last set I did this then bought the tires from Discount Tire
remember the price you see at tire rack does not include taxes/mounting/balancing/etc. so the price you pay will be higher than what is shown. |

Tires with an "M&S" on the side (stands for mud and snow) are what you need for proper traction on icy or snowy roads. |

I wish I knew how to answer, but I live in Texas, and we just stay home when there is ice on the ground. |

I have a fwd 2500 dodge and run B.F. Goodrich rugged trail A/T, 265/70 load range E and never spun a wheel and I was pulling campers over Donner/Mont Eagle/ and Parly, if you keep them aired to 80 psi like the tire says, I got 175000 before I put on a new set. I have the paperwork from the Dodge house that has the mileage on it |

Tires that instantly deflate and not allow you to get on the road during and immediately after an ice storm are the best. You dont need to be on an icy road period.
Take a day off if its icy. As far as snow goes, dont bother finding the miracle tire. Use the chains. I know they are a pain in the rump, but they work best for snow. They are the safest. And last time I checked, that is the most important feature of any vehicle.
Everyone has the right to come home just as healthy and safe as they were when they left that morning. |

Winter tires are not like All-Season tires. Winter tires have special rubber compounds designed to improve traction, handling and braking in all cold weather conditions, not just ice and snow.
Winter Tires are designed to deliver safety and control in snow, ice, and cold weather conditions. Many people think that all-season tires can deliver this same performance, but this is not true. The superior traction that winter tires deliver, as much as a 25 to 50 percent increase over all-season tires, can very well be the margin you need to stop in time or turn to avoid trouble. |
