I'm pretty sure your car wasn't designes for deisel, so the worste case, you wont be driving for a week or two until it is fixed, best case, you found out the manufacturer was lying and your car can run on deisel fuel

You may get a few feet and then the engine will most likely stall. It isn't designed to run on gasoline. Before you fill any car, make sure you read the pump first. All stations clearly show what each pump dispenses.

If you put petrol in a diesel then the entire system needs to be flushed and primed, takes about 3 hours.

Nothing, but if Diesel goes into a pertol car, you have a problem: Ii will stop and you need the tow-away service. Getting the wrong sort of petrol out is not a big deal and it would not leave a permananet damage to your car - it's just a bloody noisance and costs you some money.

If you were to use gasoline in a diesil engine, it could cause a fire or explosion.......harming or killing you or others. This is the reason why they use different nozzles.

Diesel engines do not have spark plugs. They have very high compression and petrol will explode in a Diesel combustion chamber, ruining the engine. Yes, different injector systems are used. Some Diesel owners used to put one or two litres of Leaded petrol in their Diesel tanks, then fill with Diesel fuel. The lead killed bacteria in the tank. This was like once every six months. Since leaded petrol is no longer available, this cannot be done now and was probably not very advisable then.

How do people get it wrong?

Petrol pumps always seem to be red or green, diesel pumps are ALWAYS black, and LPG pumps have really odd nossles.

THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START, YOU WILL NEED TO FLUSH OUT COMPLETE SYSTEM, DRAIN GAS TANK, REPLACE FUEL FILTER, CHANGE OIL AND FILTER AND THEN DRIVE THE VEHICLE.

AFTER ABOUT 4 OR SO TANKS OF GAS AND IF THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY TAKE IT IN AND TELL THEM THAT THE CHECK ENGINE IS COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY AND IT SOMETIMES RUN ROUGH.

THAT WAY THEY WILL HAVE IT DOCUMENTED SO IN THE EVENT THAT YOUR ENGINE HAS TROUBLES IN THE FUTURE IT WILL BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.

The basic desing of the diesel and the petrol engine is different and it will not exactly give the same calorific value for u if burn 1 liter of diesel in a petrol engine
