That's a great idea.
Maybe there would be less people out there that I guess just forget how to drive!!.
I feel that you should have to take a driving test yearly if you are over the age of 75. |

God no. Cos the driving test - like most exams is not about how well you actually drive - but about if you comply with the accepted rules. What I mean is - I now drive a lot better that I did when I passed my test; and that's not ego - I drive for a living, but I would never pass my test now. Not because I don't use my mirrors, or drive around fiddling with the radio cos I don't (very often) but because when you go for driving lessons, you are taught to pass the test not taught how to drive. That comes with experience. Its like when you start work with 5 million qualifications, but the guy who left school at 14 with none is way above you cos he knows about life and how your company works. Now I am mid 30s I get really annoyed by the 20-odd year olds - straight out of Uni with a degree that they think gives them the right to look down their nose at you. They don't realise I got my degree 10 years ago! But what I think annoys me most is that I can see myself in them and it embarrasses me.
I got a bit off the question there in my ranting - but the answer is no. |

Most of the good drivers would fail on some technicality. There's a big difference between practical driving and pleasing a pedantic examiner.
I drove buses for 16 years, average ten hours a day on the road, including tour buses in the Alps and elsewhere, fitting and using snowchains, turning in tiny places you'd think were impossible (I was once mis-directed into Wolverhampton Railway Station car park and it took me nearly an hour to get out) and I'm sure I and most other professional drivers would fail a test because of petty reasons like not holding the wheel right or something. |

i would say that is a great idea |

It wouldn't matter how often we had to retake our driving test. People aren't going to jeopardize not getting their license renewed, so they'll obey all signals, come to complete stops, and adhere to the speed limits. Then...once its all said and done, they'll be out on the road driving like all the other idiots. It amazes me how some people get their license in the first place! |

What a great idea, five is better though. I drive approx a 1000miles per week. I see bad drivers all over. That probably includes me.
I also think that drivers over 70 should take a licence dependant medical.
All drivers should take a phsychological test once only. None licenced drivers should be given 5 years mandatory sentence in a working prison. |

I'd say i'm gonna lose mine in 5 years because there's no way in hell i'd pass. |

i say leave it as it is theres not a lot wrong with the present system but what i would do is change the age limit for driving from 17 to 21 as that would help to get rid of boy racers |

I think your name should be randomly pulled just like jury duty. One day you just get notified, "time to take your test". |

Iam!!

Good idea. After seeing some of these questions on here, I think a good refresher course would differently help. |

I think it is a wonderful idea!! Then we would not have all these crazy drivers on the road. But then again where I live you practically just get your license without testing for it. (At least that is what it seems like!!!) |

I would say it is a good thing. Maybe a driving licence should only be valid for ten years! I also feel that any driver who gets more than seven points on their licence, regardless of age, should be made by law to re-take and pass the driving test. Peoples eyesight and general health can deteriorate over a few years, so regular checks has to be a good idea. This could save many lives. |
