They'll mail you a ticket. It should only affect your insurance if you report it to your insurance company, since most minor offenses aren't reported to insurance companies by the police (It would take FAR too much time for each police department in each city to do that).
You should be fine. |

In Washington State you have run a red light if the mid-point of your car has not yet passed the mid-point of the intersection by the time the light turned red.
The police may try to cite you but they will have to get cooperation from the rental car company. My guess is that they will not pursue it once they realize it's a rental. |

Well, I think the best thing you should do is face it. Most Likely you are going to get a phone call asking about it and possibly a ticket. You should talk to the police and rental car store calmly and they'll understand it was a mistake. (P.S- You'll still probably get the ticket though.) (And it might effect you insurance) |

Well, this is a good question. I will tell you what I think will happen. The rental car company will receive a violation notice that one of their rental cars ran a red light. The rental car company will check their records and forward you the violation. If you plead guilty and pay the fine, the car rental company may or may receive a notice that you are in good standing with the police and you can go on and live your life as usual including renting from them again--although they may suggest safe driving in the future. I can't see it affecting your insurance unless it directly affects the terms of your policy. It will just be chalked up as a "first mistake" with no serious consequences; however, if your violations increase it is possible that the consequences of your actions will also increase. Relax, everyone makes mistakes!! |

Well... If you really run the red light, then you're going to get a "bill" in the mail... Which is actually your ticket.
If you get it, it will tell you where you have to report and when and how much your fine will be...
You will only be locked up if you do not pay. And your insurance may increase.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news... but maybe you won't get a tick because that same thing happened to a friend of mine and the camera flashed at her car...
She never got anything in the mail or a phone call... or anything.
You should go down to the station and ask them if they have you on file for anything, but I wouldn't mention what if they don't.
Good luck! Hope this helped. |

Forget about it, your insurance will never find out, and you will never be ticketed. The law officers in charge of this are probably as lazy as the rest of them and will not follow up. relax. |

The license plate number will show as a rental car and from what rental car company. After tracing records of who had rented that car during that time frame, you will be receiving a ticket in the mail real soon. You may be able to go to traffic school so the ticket won't show up on your driving record and your insurance company won't know about the ticket. Happy New Year. |

You will be receiving a ticket for running the red light. It will go to the rental car agency, they will look up the renter (you), and they will put it on your credit card. |

Do you have any idea how many of those red light cameras I've run red lights under, for a while there I was trying to get caught going through one on purpose, since I heard they took a picture of the whole front of your car, including you through your windshield, and sent it to you. So i wanted one of me, going through a red light chugging a beer, but I've never gotten a single picture, or ticket for that matter... I think the purpose of them is to just scare you into being careful, like fake cameras in department stores deter theft. |

The ticket will be mailed to the Rental Agency as the registered owner of the vehicle. They will in turn deduct the ticket from your credit card unless you advise them otherwise. These tickets do not affect your insurance in any way as they are deterrents for running yellow and red lights. It only hurts the pocketbook. Hope this helps. |

The cameras take a photo of the driver, and send a citation to the owner of the vehicle, in this case, a rental car company.
The rental car company has a company to collect their tickets for them.
You would have to contact them to get more information about the ticket, and discuss what happens if you dispute the ticket, if that's what you have in mind.
They won't provide that service for you. Their job is simply to collect what was charged to the rental car company by the authority that issued the citation. |
