Get a device that locks your breaks. It goes around the stem from the floor and locks the peddle. This may sound dumb but if they can't step on the breaks they can't move the car or change gears or anything. Doesn't matter if they jump the car, it still can't be moved. They've got to move the gear shift and in order to do that you need breaks.

Both of those will slow down a thief making them move on to an easier target. I think with a Visible deterent like the CLUB steering wheel lock or the like... you should not have any trouble... unless it is a Ferrari or something that is worth a thief spending an xtra 45 seconds in the car. Lo Jack is great but it costs alot of money! If you live in a High crime area, and IF you drive a car likely to be stolen... I would use one of the visible deterrents you mentioned PLUS an electronic starter kill switch. That way even if they bust off the collar and brake lock and try to 'hotwire' the car... it still wont start! Good Luck!

By the Way... I live in a rural area and I went 7 years with the keys in my ignition without a problem until the day my Insurance man said my policy would not cover against theft if the keys were in the ignition. He told me to put the keys in the cupholder. Still no problems. You could always move to someplace safer and remove the stress from your life alltogether!

depends on the car... for off road jeeps there ia a thing you fit onto the steering colum, and when you get out you can take your steering wheel with you... also some sort of passive antitheft devise... i like the starter interupters... if someone trys to start the car without useing the key, the starter wont start for a set ammount of time... some are 10 mins... some 20... and i think there are some you can set... but thats getting up there in $$$

I saw this sign on a car when traveling in Arizona,
My car is covered by " Smith & Wesson " Insurance Company
Be careful when entering.

#1. Put your car into a locked garage when you come home.

#2. Never leave your car outside unattended. Take a second person and trusted licensed driver with you to remain in the car to watch it.

Any car that someone wants to steal can be stolen in a few minutes. The pros are really good if they want your vehicle for parts or to ship to some foreign country.

so what do you think?
Get a Pitbull to keep watch for intruders.

But that probably isn't a good idea on days when he wont let you in either.

Lojack with an alarm

Take out a spark plug. Unless the thief carries around a spark plug, they likely won't want to bother popping the hood to try to get your car to start.
