Whats the first thing you think when you see a car accident?

i had that happen right in front of me once. i pulled up to a stop and didnt go because a vehicle was coming and this old lady pulls up next to me and goes for it. the durango smashed into that little old ladies lincoln town car and sent it spinning towards my truck. i got out and found her bleeding from her head, so i told her to stay still, that the ems was coming. i told everyone in both vehicle not to move in case of neck injuries. after that i bolted outta there cause i had a fat sack of bud on me.

What reason did this fool have for losing control. Most of the ones I see are highway, not city and I'm rarely the first one there so I have no idea how it happened, but now have to deal with the herd of rubberneckers.

When I see vehicles that have collided my first thoughts are "How did they manage to collide? What was each person doing? Would I have made the same mistake and have been involved in such a collision?"

There are a lot of idiots on the road, and sometimes when they meet and have a collision. They are examples of how not to drive. I use the collisions I see to avoid such a collision on my part.

The vast majority of collisions I have seen have been at controlled intersections, usually traffic lights. They have all been the result of one driver expecting another driver to obey the law and stop. They all could have been prevented by looking for incoming traffic.

I have never seen a car accident happen before, but if I did I would be shocked and wonder how they collided. Accidents happen fast and if I blink for one second, it'll be hard to determine why they collided. When I drive by a car accident that already happen, the position of the cars sometimes doesn't make it look obvious of how it happen. So I wonder how did those cars end up like that and who did what to cause the accident. I probably wouldn't stop to help, I'll just let the police and EMTs take care of it. But if I see an accident happen that looks major, I'm sure I'll call 911 to report it.

from experience the first thing I do is secure the scene so noone else gets injured. next, check on injuries, establish triage, have someone call 911, tend to worst injuried first.
