I'm just asking cause i have one on the way and i have a honda (not suv) and was wondering if i need to buy suv. i mean, baby goes in the middle, one bag to the left, one to the right, tree in the front, how many more bags am i gonna carry?
or is it for safety reasons? suv last better in a crash?? if that's the case, then yes, i'd buy it.

they usually buy a suv because they have the room of a mini van, but are a bit more like a truck, also depending on the climate in which they live in, they might need AWD, and SUV's come in all sizes, some will only seat 5 such a a Jeep Liberty, others will seat 7, such as a Ford Expedition. its really up to what you like, and most SUV's do have good crash ratings. if you would like to look at some suv crash rating you can find them at the link i provided. i would not always go by consumer reports. some of there techiniques are not the best when it comes to rating a vehicle. Good luck!

I ran a Range Rover up until my Son was 12. If you only have the one to pass on your genes you tend to be over protective of it. |

Many people, feel they need the space, to use the vehicle as a Grocery getter, Moms like SUVs because of all the room for trips to the mall, Others, Like the high driving position because they get a panoramic view. The parents with only one child get an SUV because they are still either in their late 20's to their mid 30's which is when you need a flexible vehicle, because you have the husband who makes runs to the Home Depot or Lowes, and then the wife, who gets the groceries, or needs to get the carpool, for trips, and then there is the drive out with the friends, and there are people who drive SUVs to feel on top of the world, and SUVs in general seat 5 or 7 people.
And for the safety, You cant always be guaranteed the saftey when you are in an SUV, because they look strong, many SUVs are car based nowadays, but they are getting safer and safer as we speak, I mean, it is great that you drive a Honda, and if you get an SUV the CR-V is a great choice. As an owner of an SUV, I can see why people buy SUVs, it is because they have very diverse lifestyles, so they need a flexible and versatile vehicle, and an SUV fits that description, because you have all weather capabilities, large cargo areas, Foldable seats, avalible third row seating, safety, because SUVs have a tendency of holding child seats rigidly into the seat, so you reduce movement, and chances of an infant being ejected, and the practicality to fit in for years.
SUVs are among the safest vehicles now, because all 2006 and later models are equpiied with side airbags, and stability control, and when you have a rollover, you will live, studies show that 82% of rollover occupants walkaway from the rollover and a few other have minor injuries, and the only occupants that are killed are the unbelted occupants. So it is true how SUVs are safer, the myth that SUVs werent safe, was true, but that was around 6 years back, we now have the technology to save you from accidents happening, and now we have safe SUVs. So you should go ahead and buy an SUV, (not a V8, environment destroying one) a crossover is fine, like the CR-V, Suzuki XL-7, Suzuki Grand Vitara, or Lexus RX350. |

Some SUV's are just nice. My sister Owns a Toyota Sequoia, made to suit the people in the back, and she has no intentions if letting anyone ride in her vehicle. I accept that. |

Safety wise people are misinformed....
People think that because the driver is positioned higher and the SUV generally looks more sturdy they think they are safer.
This is not true....every type of car has certain accident scenarios that they will do better in and others do worse.
For an SUV it may be able to take more impact but it is also more likely to rollover which can actually be more dangerous then if you are hit.
Read the following about SUV safety Myths it may clear things up...

SUV- Supersizing useless vehicles.
Be responsible to your kid and the environment, stick with your Honda. Honda will be more reliable, more nimble to avoid an accident and has an excellent safety record. |
