Where should I walk when I am walking on a busy street with no sidewalks? ?

I walk home from school everyday along a semi-busy street with no sidewalks. One the edges of the street are grassy bits of peoples lawns, and I never am sure if I should walk on the pavement or on the edge of the lawn. I usually walk on the pavement but when a car is going to pass I step up onto the grassy bit.

Is there a proper place where I should walk?

Also, should I walk against the traffic or with it?

I would walk on the grass.
I would rather make someone made for walking on there lawn than die from walkin in the street.

Always walk facing the traffic. This allows the drivers to see you, and you to see them. This is the opposite rule as riding a bike. When riding, you should ride with traffic.

You should walk as close as you can to the edge of the road, and then you would not be in the way of anything that may happen.

Walk on the left side of the road. You'll be highly visible to both directions of traffic and traffic's moving towards you on the left. Walk on the pavement.

If you walk on the right side, your back will be to cars passing you-not a comfortable feeling. they may not see you and you may not hear them.
