Which is worse?

Is driving without a seatbelt worse? Or driving uninsured?

w/out a seatbelt. at least uninsured you won't die. maybe have a fine or jail...not sure which. depends on the laws in the state you're in...but w/out a seatbelt you COULD die...and that's far worse.

Caro
If you are asking about the risks involved in these two choices, you take a financial and liability risk by not having insurance. However, you take the greatest risk of all when you don't use a seat belt, you risk your life!! Stick around, buckle up.

Driving without a seatbelt. You won't die if you are uninsured.

The Riddler
Better to wear a seatbelt than have a gecko talking to you and distracting you while driving.

Kamikazeâ?ºKid
Both are irresponsible but driving without a seatbelt will injure you in an accident. Driving without insurance will hurt the other driver, especially if you are at fault and can't pay restitution.

So please be responsible to yourself and others.

What would you rather be? Dead or paying a fine for not having
any insurance

Driving uninsured is worse. Even if you don't wear a seatbelt, it's better to have insurance if you get hurt, especially if the accident is your fault. Plus, the statistics on the effectiveness of seatbelts are not consistent and most EMTs will tell you it doesn't matter if you wear one.

Molly
Driving without a seatbelt.

I'm an RN. If you could see the things we see in the ER, from people not wearing their seatbelt, you would quickly realize, that it isn't even a contest.

I think most people think they would be unconcious or die instantly and would never know that they were going to die.

This is not true.

You should see the pain they are in and the fear in some patients eyes, when they know that they are about to die.

Believe me. You would never ever drive again without your seatbelt fastened.

That would be a wake up call for sure.

It's too horrible to describe. I think giving graphic details on this site would be inappropriate. There are too many people who would have nightmares and especially the kids that might read it.

It's VERY disturbing. We don't ever get used to seeing patients wind up in such a horrific state.

Case and coffin closed.

Without a seatbelt is worse. The reason is this: You are actually statistically more likely to have an accident NOT wearing your seatbelt. Whether or not you have insurance is of no consequence to the probability of having an accident.

Insurance, in it's minimum form, only covers the other person. You are more likely to get more severe injuries if you don't wear a seatbelt. You could be sued for no insurance in the case of a bad accident. But with a seatbelt, you could file bankruptcy and still keep your life.

Hope that helps,
Jon

P.S. Anyone who tries to tell you that it is better to not wear a seatbelt (as far as preserving you life goes), is either crazy, or doesn't understand statistical mathematics.

Driving like an idiot without a seatbelt and insurance. With insurance you could hit someone and be liable for it.

uninsured! bcoz even if u have a seat belt if youre car will be crush (i hope not) and get Wrecked (i still hope not to happen) you will still die and will get no benefit, but if youre insured even if you get bumped or die (still dont hope soo!) you or you,re departed family will have a benefit!

Uninsured. You can get a fine (it's $10.00 here). But if you hurt someone in an accident, you could go bankrupt from their injuries. My insurance covers others for $100,000 in medical bills for only $600 a year.

without a seatbelt...a ticket i can deal with, dying i cannot

I would say driving without a seatbelt is worse because you can always get some insurance while you're alive, but if you get bumped off for not wearing a seatbelt then you don't have to worry about a thing anymore.........

um yea hi

without a seatbelt
if you crashed you could easily get hurt
if you crashed while uninsured but you were wearing a seatbelt would just cost more, but your life is more important than money

Driving uninsured is wore.

Maimee
Uninsured.

racer717
uninsured, you might not get injured in a car accident even if you're not wearing a seatbelt, but there's still the matter of insurance if you crashed into someone...

Carol O
First you have to define to whom "worse" applies. If it is you, then driving without a seat belt is worse because if you were in an accident, you could be seriously hurt or die. If it is another driver, then driving uninsured is worse, because if you cause an accident, you won't be able to reimburse the other driver for the damages.

amor etrno
seatbelt

Pepe
wear your seat belt and get insurance , don not play whit that . The consequences are worst if u don't

housefullofboys3
Both are are really bad.

Choosing one, I would say not wearing a seatbelt. If you don't wear a seatbelt, you could receive a ticket, slight injury or even worse die.

Being unisured is irresponsible can cost you lots of money and possible legal battles.
