Which is worse: driving too slow or too fast?

Driving too fast.

Even on a freeway situation, if the traffic around you is pushing you to drive too fast, then you are going to be held responsible for an accident or be given a ticket ANYWAY. You aren't supposed to speed, even when the traffic around you is going fast. Stay to the right, stay the limit, and hopefully you'll help slow it down.

The only danger in driving too slow is that you can annoy someone behind you, which can result in road rage.

Speed on the other hand lowers your reaction time, lowers your ability to stop (takes more space to slow down and stop), lowers the grip between the road and your tires (skidding) which lowers your control over your car, and is basically the number one cause of accidents. If people would simply slow down, most accidents would never happen.

driving "too fast" is a greater danger, particularly in adverse climate or nighttime visibility conditions. Some people just don't see as well and need to slow down more than others at twilight and dawn, and generally we all need to leave enough following distance to avoid running into people that turn out to be going slower than we thought they would.

I think fast is more dangerous, because it means you have less reaction time, whereas if you're going really slow, you can always swerve out of the way and avoid and accident at the last second, if need be.

Both going too fast and too slow can be dangerous, though. The best thing to do is go at the same speed as the traffic you're traveling in, even if it meen going a bit over the speed limit.
If you're on a residential street with no traffic, then it can't hurt to go as slow as you want.

Definitely too fast is far worse. Where I live - many drivers drive way too fast. We have windy and very busy roads. There have been so many fatalities. I think every weekend, there is at least one, if not 2 or 3. There is at least 1-3 every week. No kidding. People need to slow down and pay attention. I'm tired of seeing all of the memorials.

If you cared that much then maybe you can care enough to slow down. There have been 2 articles in the paper about people driving too dangerously from the police.

If you are paying attention - not driving too fast than you can handle the drivers driving too slow.

But it's usually the driver not paying attention or not seeing because they are driving too fast.

It's easy - follow the rules of the road.

It depends on where you're driving. Driving too slow on the freeway or in traffic can cause an accident. It's better to go with the flow of traffic.

Driving too fast on 2 lane roads can cause an accident.

So, the worst would be too fast on 2 lane roads AND too slow on freeways.

Fast is probably worse, but Jason has a point. Fast is fun if you do it on a track. Drag or any other. I like Drag racing.

Both are dangerous, but I would say it does depend on where you are driving.

If you are going too slow on a highway, I would say this is dangerous. However, going too fast on any road is dangerous, and probably leads to more deaths than driving too slow does, although both are hazardous.
