Which side of the road to walk on?
Find answers to your legal question.

Which side of the road to walk on?

When walking on a two lane country road (for exercise) which side of the road should one walk on. Which side when walking the curve and which side when on the straight away? The road is not that busy but could still be dangerous if not on the right side.

You should walk where you will be the most visible.

As a general rule you should always face oncoming traffic. However, when you reach a bend you may want to cross over so that you are on the outside of the bend because you will be more visible to traffic in both directions than if you stick to the inside.

wear a road vest and a blinkling red light. For some unexplained reason motorists tend to run down pedestrians and keep on going.

The general rules of the road (as they apply in the US) is that pedestrians should walk against the flow of traffic. Cyclists should move with the flow of traffic.

Always walk facing traffic, that way you can see what is going to hit you.

For example, if you're on two-way S-curve hill on Ardsley Rd in Scarsdale, NY, I suggest you should walk on the side where oncoming vehicles can seen you.
Only cyclist must ride in flow of traffic.

That depends on if you want to see what hits you or if you want it to be a surprise.
