Which wears tires faster, a wet road, a dry road, asphalt or concrete?

Additional Details
Concrete is just the basic concrete mix with those traction stuff added.

Friendly Stranger..
Dry road wears the tires faster. The thing about wet surfaces is that you lose traction. That is because the tires enact with the wet surfaces causing friction and instability. When it comes to dry road, tires tend to wear down quicker because of the rough surface. In dry conditions, the road is rough and contains more elements such as broken down rock. As far as asphalt or concrete, I would say asphalt wears down tires more. Concrete is usually smoothed over more and asphalt has more of a rough surface.

All I know is you are more likely to die on wet aspalt. An interesting article in a paper a few years ago stated that since asphalt was cheaper to redo the highways, the increase in accidents and loss of life was acceptable.

Nigel M
low tire pressure.

of your choices listed, dry and it depends what is in the concrete and what is in the asphalt. Some places add high traction stuff to the mix, which will wear tires faster.

Sustained high temperatures causes the materials of the tire to degenerate and thus reduce tire life so asphalt or concrete both will do this quicker.
