Who invented roundabouts?

who was it who invented roundabouts? is he still alive (i am assuming it was a man because men always come up with stupid ideas) so that i can sue him when i fail my driving test

When you are being trained to become a driving instructor, towards the end of your training you have to sit next to a qualified instructor who pretends to be a learner.

He will do everything you ask him to do.(regarding driving)

For instance, if you tell him to take the next left, he will take the next left - which is usually someones drive into their garage. This is to teach you that you must say "Take the next TURNING left."

It's the same with roundabouts.
If you tell him to "Go straight over the roundabout" he will do just that - go STRAIGHT over the roundabout, in other words across the grass in a straight line.

So if your examiner says that - do it - it will be his fault as you are simply doing what you are told.

There are a lot of men who are upset with that clown also!! As for a specific person's name, I can not provide one, all I can say is that the car had probably not been as popular then. If in fact it was, then they were simply an idiot!!

PS: We call them rotaries over here :-)

I'm guessing it was the new town planners, they are full of them.

I'm_not_dead_yet.
it was a french person and i think it was invented in the 20th century. Eugene Hénard and William Phelbs Eno fought over who invented it. they probably did together

Yeah, it must of been a man!!
And most men can't negotiate them either!

I love and hate roundabouts. In some places there are stupid. Oh god like downtown sac. But sometimes they are really fun to just keep going. :)

it was a fat english tart that caused the first roundabout she fell over on the A1 and all the cars had to go round her big fat butt ,hence roundabout

What is the issue with a roundabout? They are hardly rocket science to deal with and if you can not negotiate one then you don't deserve to pass your test. I am sure you will be OK but it sounds like you have talked yourself out of it already - be positive, it is just a road feature and if you obey the rules you will be fine.

Take heart from the numpties that have passed their tests already - kind of like the ones on here who are complaining about them - if they can do it, so can you.
