It's SOOO funny that you ask this because I run into this situation a lot! My best friend is a big guy and his back isn't in the greatest of shape. My wife knows this and she always lets him ride up front. (Isn't she great!?) My friend appreciates it too.
I wouldn't make my wife do it though. |

I have been in this situation - I was the girlfriend, and my ex had a roundabout of best friends who forever bummed a ride...um and a place to live, lol, anyways...and I must say I found it terribly rude, very annoying and hurtful when these big dumb guys always took MY place next to my man. Now, if it were some special friend that he never saw, I'd gladly sit in the back so they could catch up easier and such, but I would want to be offered the seat. What made a bigger deal, was that we only had 2 door cars, and I got stuck being scrunched in the back, occasionally in short skirts...then again, maybe THAT'S why they did it? LOL Either way, I didn't like being shoved aside all the time for a friend.... |

It depends on if your friend or your wife is taller. In either case the wife should sincerely offer to ride in the back. If the friend is shorter, he should be a gentleman and insist on the wife riding up front.
If you're a redneck like me, hell we all ride up front. LOL |

Offer your wife to sit in the front out of respect. She will probably sit in the back to be nice and you made the offer.. |
